 | A break for two to Australia |
| | Often chattel valuations are forgotten about on properties purchased during the year until tax time, which holds up filing your tax return. As an incentive for all clients of Valuit who have a chattel valuation completed between now and 10 December you will go in the draw for a mystery weekend break for 2 in Australia*. This means that when you (or your advisor) file for your tax break you will have the depreciation information that you require making your life a little less stressful. |
 | Hang on the IRD is reviewing the depreciation of residential rentals. |
| | That is right. However the IRD are not looking to remove the ability to claim depreciation but purely change some of the rates (both increase and decrease). With the detailed reports that Valuit provide you (or your advisor) will easily be able to accommodate any change in depreciation rates which may occur. With the proposed changes it will be more important for you to get a full apportionment of the purchase price at the time you purchase the property. We will keep you posted of any relevant changes.
